The Ibikunle Family suffered the loss of a promising young girl, Sarah, to stray bullets from the FCMB Lekki armed robbery incident on 12th March, 2015. 13 years old Sarah had already seen the gruesome side of life when she lost her dad some years ago. This had made life difficult for her family and turned her to a street hawker. On that fateful day, she tried to escape from the mayhem when she was hit by a stray bullet. May her soul rest in perfect peace.
Nominated by a group of local lawyers that advocate for human rights, the Mbashie Community in Ucha, M’erkyen Council Ward are subsistence farmers with a population of approximately 900 adults, youths and teenagers. They have no source of water and have to travel more than 30km on foot every day, taking an average of 3 hours each way, to get water that is not clean and healthy to drink. In the rainy season they catch whatever water they can but it is still not sufficient. In the dry season they suffer tremendously.
